Before your visit

What you should know before your visit

When you're ready, visit one of our patient service centres — appointments aren't required for most tests.

  • Valid provincial health card — make sure it's accurate and not expired.
  • Requisition form — valid for 6 months or the expiry date listed by your provider.
  • Find the right centre — only some locations administer X-rays and ultrasounds.
  • Fasting tests — your requisition will note whether fasting is required.
  • Special accommodations — let our staff know how we can support you.
  • Getting results — available to your physician as soon as your test is processed.

No appointment is needed for lab tests, X-rays, or ECGs. Check the hours of operation before you visit; once you arrive you'll be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis. U.S.A DOT urine collection and ultrasounds do require appointments.

We aim to provide efficient service and offer the option to schedule appointments to minimize your wait. Wait times may be slightly longer in the mornings as many patients fast overnight for tests.

Yes — house calls can be arranged by request, for a fee. To set up a house call, call the main laboratory and a member of our team will assist.

If you are dropping off a specimen on behalf of a relative or friend, you should have the signed , patient’s and ensure that all specimen containers are clearly labelled with the patient’s complete name and date of birth, then is securely sealed.
