No appointment is needed: bring your Ontario health card and a requisition, and the typical wait is under 15 minutes. Samples are processed at Bio-Test's accredited laboratory in Ottawa and results reach your provider within 24 to 48 hours.

Bio-Test's Cornwall centre serves the city and the surrounding SD&G counties, including Long Sault, Ingleside, Alexandria and Lancaster. Opened in 2026, the Carleton Place centre serves Mississippi Mills, Almonte, Beckwith, Perth Road communities and west Lanark. What to bring
- Your Ontario health card. A Quebec RAMQ card cannot be billed by an Ontario community lab; Quebec residents pay and claim back from RAMQ.
- The requisition from your physician, nurse practitioner or midwife. Faxed requisitions are fine: tell the desk which clinic sent it.
- Fasting if the requisition says so: water only for 8 to 12 hours. Our fasting guide explains what counts.
- Any special containers you were given for urine or stool samples.
Which tests can be done at a rural centre?
All routine blood and specimen collection, including CBC, chemistry, lipids, HbA1c, thyroid, INR, hormone tests, cultures, urine and swab tests. X-ray and ECG are offered at Bio-Test's Ottawa centres only: X-ray at Bells Corners and Smyth, ECG at Bells Corners, Smyth and Parkdale. Ultrasound is by appointment at Bells Corners.
How results reach you and your doctor
Samples are couriered to Bio-Test's laboratory the same day. Routine results are reported to the ordering provider within 24 to 48 hours and posted to the patient portal. Tests referred to specialty laboratories take longer; see how long results take.
