Our Sandy Hill location at 168 Charlotte Street, Suite 402, serves Sandy Hill, downtown Ottawa, the ByWard Market, and the University of Ottawa area. This centre continues the service of our former Sandy Hill site from a modern, accessible downtown location, well suited to students, downtown workers, and central residents who want a convenient option for routine bloodwork. Walk in with your requisition and health card — no appointment needed for most tests.
Sandy Hill is Bio-Test Laboratory's patient service centre for Sandy Hill, downtown Ottawa, Lowertown, the University of Ottawa and Vanier. Walk in Monday to Friday 7:30 am–4:00 pm with your Ontario health card and a requisition from your physician, nurse practitioner or midwife: no appointment is needed for blood work, and the typical wait is under 15 minutes. Tests ordered on a requisition are covered by OHIP. If your requisition says to fast, come first thing in the morning with water only. Samples go to Bio-Test's accredited laboratory the same day, results reach your provider within 24 to 48 hours, and you can see them in the patient portal. For X-ray, use Bio-Test's Bells Corners or Smyth centres; for ECG, Bells Corners, Smyth, Parkdale or Orléans Centrum.
